Unbox & Connect Your Trezor
Carefully unbox your Trezor device and locate the USB-C cable. Connect your Trezor hardware wallet directly to your computer's USB port. Avoid using unpowered hubs or extension cables for the initial setup process. Navigate to the official Trezor Start page to begin the firmware installation.
Install Trezor Suite & Firmware
Download and install Trezor Suite, the official desktop application for managing your Trezor wallet. The application will automatically detect your connected Trezor device and guide you through installing the latest, most secure firmware. This firmware protects your recovery seed and private keys.
Create Your New Wallet
Follow the on-screen instructions in Trezor Suite to create a new wallet. Your Trezor device will generate a unique, random 12, 18, or 24-word recovery seed. This seed is the master key to your entire wallet—write it down in the exact order shown on your Trezor's screen.
Backup Your Recovery Seed
This is the most critical security step. Write down your recovery seed phrase on the provided backup card. Store it in a secure, offline location like a fireproof safe. Never store it digitally (no photos, cloud storage, or text files). Your seed is your last line of defense.
🔒 Non-Negotiable Security Rules
- Only Buy from Trezor.io: Purchase your device only from the official Trezor shop to avoid tampered hardware.
- Never Share Your Seed: Your 24-word recovery seed should never be entered anywhere except your Trezor device for recovery.
- Verify Suite Address: Always ensure you are on the genuine Trezor Suite application (suite.trezor.io).
- Beware of Phishing: Ignore emails or sites asking for your seed or PIN. Trezor will never ask for this information.
- PIN Protection: Set a strong PIN on your device. This physically protects it from unauthorized access.
